Terry's Corner
Terry L. Braswell, Sr. Associational Missionary
We
enter into the month of July! In
doing so we celebrate the birthday of our country.
America is 232 years old!
What a blessing it is to live in this country.
With all its problems it is still a
wonderful gift of God to be a citizen.
The Psalmist asks the question, “If the
foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
(Psalms 11:3). That verse
ought to be an alarm for all of us because our country is under attack from
enemies on the outside and the inside.
It is imperative that we, as believers, do our job.
We have great privileges and we have great responsibilities.
We must be good citizens. We
must do what is right in the home, in the church, in the neighborhood, in the
country and in the ballot box. We
must make our voices be heard. We
must not take what we have been blessed with for granted.
Again the Psalmist reminds us, “Blessed
is
the nation whose God
is
the LORD.” (Psalm 33:12)
Kathy and I have been blessed as we have had opportunity to visit some of the
Vacation Bible Schools this summer.
Directors, teachers, workers and students have been really involved in the
presentation and study in the schools.
I pray God will richly bless these efforts for eternity.
I want to thank the churches who
participated in our Associational Emphasis this year.
We have already had special contributions from the following churches
with others soon to report:
FBC Austell
FBC Lithia Springs
Glen Forest
Mt. Harmony
Mt. Pisgah
New Georgia
Victory
Westview
June 10-11, the Southern Baptist Convention was held in Indianapolis, Indiana.
It was a most interesting week as we
met, had good preaching, good music and informative reports.
Dr. Johnny Hunt, pastor of FBC Woodstock was elected to serve as
president for the coming year.
There were other things taking place during that week.
A lot of rain fell on Indiana and the neighboring states just before the
convention, as well as during the meeting.
You have no doubt seen a lot of the devastation caused by the flooding.
First, know that the investment you make through the Cooperative Program
is paying big dividends as many disaster relief teams have been and continue to
be on the scene to help those folks during this most troubling time.
Secondly, pray for all
these people – residents and those who are doing all they can to help remedy the
situation.
God is blessing the WMBA.
It is a joy to be a part of this association!
